It specifically is NOT a reaction time test but my brain treated it as such and I was so anxious over missing a non x letter that I was mashing the space bar as soon as I saw anything without much time to process if the letter was an x or not and he was able to explain to me I was doing this just by my abnormally fast response time. They aren’t just measuring your accuracy, they’re measuring things like how quickly you react (there was a whole ass graph of things for this test but this is the only one I remember sorry lol). The one that stuck out most is I struggled with that stupid space bar except on X test. I thought the drawing and puzzle cubes were so fun! I was legit like “they’re gonna think I’m not adhd because I killed this test cause I’m a fucking nerd who thinks puzzles are fun” lmao I was worried I wouldn’t get accurate results because the tests were fun for me and I was actively engaged and did really well but they are able to see through all of that. We had a follow up meeting and I was amazed at how much the psychologist could tell me about myself just from what they measured. Honestly most of the tests were really fun and engaging (though I did struggle to stay focused during the 15 minute long computer tests). * how many of those words from the first list can you remember now? ![]() * do that reading challenge where the word red is written in green and you have to either read the word or say the color * fill out a 72 question adhd questionnaire * fill out a generalized anxiety questionnaire * how many of those pictures you drew earlier can you draw now? * repeat long numbers in order (4382 is 2348) * repeat a long list of words from memory several times ![]() * press space bar when you hear a certain sound combo * press space bar every time a letter flashes except for letter X The idea of a 4 hr testing appointment freaked me the hell out but it really wasn’t that big of a deal. It’s much harder for them to ignore once you have it on paper. Nothing is worse than screaming the answer you know is true at people only to be ignored. It’s nice to have the proof to back up what you know. My psychiatrist was already fairly certain I was suffering from ADHD based on our preliminary visit and the results of the tests strongly enforced her assumptions severe ADHD-C. It was and interview with a psychiatrist followed by 2 tests on a separate day and then they went over my results with me on another day.
